A Crappy Lunch

After years of weekly dining together Sandy and I don’t spend a lot of effort on trying new places, we tend to repeat at the usual suspects.   She loves pho, so we eat Vietnamese a lot and I have chicken & veggies.

I had a Groupon that was expiring at the end of the month and so we went to Bushnell’s in Redmond.  They do “craft” beers (microbrews), burgers, and a few other things.  We had burgers and fries.  For an $11 burger it was a wussy untoasted whitebread bun with way too much sauce and wilted greens instead of lettuce on mine.  Sandy’s fries were too cooked for her taste.  This was one of the worst meals we have had in a while.  It was such a poor effort that we just said the food was fine and left it at that.  The presentation looked okay, it was a burger and fries with a toothpick in a tall burger, what could go wrong.

The good news is that even a place with crappy food it felt safe to eat there.  It would be a lot worse if we got food poisoning.

I am grateful even the Redmond places with crappy food are going to be safe to eat—at least for a burger and fries.

  1. I worked many food service jobs to get thru college, I always remember the owner of one place I worked said if all else fails to inspire what to eat at a restaurant, order the burger and fries, sounds like you got just barely a burger and fries..we went to the cheesecake factory in bellvue and the list of foods were just overwhelming to me I thought about what my former boss said but went with the half sammie, soup and salad and was fine with it..I say most restaurants really don't care anymore, you live in the most populated area of all of Washington state, most places don't care about the customers, we go to seattle all the time, to tell you the truth we hit the local Burgerville in clark county or the last one in Centralia, for a little bit of cash you can get really good burgers and fries and shakes, they have been around for 51 years and they are great..Just the facts of selling burgers and fries and shakes that was their original menu items has proven to be their great great success, Hey Dick's is up your way, the double deluxe is mighty tasty and the fries well they are there too, shakes etc. not too much money for the whole shebang enjoy!
