A 60th Birthday
Today is my sister’s 60th birthday. That is a significant milestone in our time
on this world. She is perhaps 2/3rds of
the way through her life. She is far and
away the most successful of her siblings.
I am very proud of her and appreciate having her in my life—even if she
does live on the far side of the world.
We don’t celebrate Xmas with gifts.
We do celebrate birthdays with gifts in a somewhat asymmetrical manner. She gets me durable goods such as kitchen
knives or cordless phone sets and I buy her flowers. I love my Rachel Ray knives and Panasonic
base station with 5 cordless handsets. I
hope she likes her birthday bouquets.
I am grateful to have my sister in my life. She is very important to me. My sister is the only biological relative I communicate
with. We are in contact via this blog
and email. We have not talked in person
for several years.
