Financial amends or cleaning up the wreckage of my past

I have owed money on Guaranteed Student Loans (GSLs) since 1984. It has been so long that the Feds had given up on my ever paying them back. Tonight I paid off 95% of the loans, with one last payment after we determine out the final balance.

27 years is longer than most home loans. It feels good to have paid-up on my loans. Ten years ago my credit rating was so poor I could not add my name to a home loan my sister already qualified for. Today I have an Excellent credit rating. That is a lot better than how it used to be.

I am grateful that financial insecurity is no longer a problem, that my bills are paid in a timely fashion now and that late payment fees are a thing of the past. God that feels good, thank you.
