A Trip To The Tulips in Skagit Valley

The spring bloom of tulips in the Mt Vernon/Skagit Valley area is one of the greatest flowering blooms in the entire country.   I have never gone up to see them.   Tomorrow my roommate and I will take a drive up there to check them out.   On the way home, we will stop in Arlington to have dinner at the San Martin Bistro—one of the best restaurants in the Northwest.   I have never been there either.   Both of these activities have been on the back burner of my bucket list for years.   This will be a wonderful Western Washington day trip.

I am grateful for flowering plants, good roads, great food and sunny weather.

  1. Forget Mt. Vernon unless you get there at 7 or 8 am the hoards of rude visitors will turn you off and you pay parking in the lots and into the field too..We went this last Wednesday the 30th of March to La Conner then on up to Anacortes, what lovely cities and yes we saw fields of daffys (daffodils and tulips for free the ferry was right on time the lady and gentlemen who own the newspaper in La Conner gave us round trip tickets to come back we used it to go to Anacortes, we dined in La Conner and had a feast of crab, fish, coleslaw, fries and also some clams and oyster for me for only $14.00 and that included two mugs of hot stash tea..My hubs got the cod fish and chips coleslaw and fries and two glasses of Pepsi for $10.00 ate on the La Conner waterfront spectacular and 75 degrees and lovely..We took the ferry ride up to Anacortes and found a pottery place the fellow was making mugs, I snagged a lovely blue mug with a lid no less for $4.00 we stayed late came back to La Conner and hurried on the I-5 to Vancouver Washington where we live, the 2 to 3 times we actually tried to see those tulip fields was horrendous even the police were rude and crude, no freaking thank you that town is all about their damn tulip festival and nothing else and backward people with no manners one is treated roayally in La Conner and Anacortes..We have a bulb of Tulip and Tulip festival in our county and it is far nicer, don't waste your money on Mt. Vernon and I have heard of that restaurant, we went past in on our way to Bellingham when our only was at WWU they have tremendous restaurants in bham as I call it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I guess the residents of mt. Vernon get one chance to get their money from tourists but we are not stupid people we actually live in this gorgeous state!!! We visit many areas and to tell you the truth most of the places in mt. Vernon cannot hold a candle to tiny farms and wineries and herb places in the eastern part of Washington state, the people are far friendlier, free parking and the cheeses, wines, organic juices, foods organic, bakeries put a big shame to mt. vernone, Arlington and Burlington tooo..We think it is because they only get one time of year to get the money from the stupid out of town visitors, well we live here and we go all over we were and still are not impressed with that little bunch of crap town, even the sheriff place the people acted like people from HOOTERVILLE!!!!!!!!! only they were rude and crude, NO THANK YOU WHATSOEVER! tHE LOVELY PEOPLE IN LA CONNER NEED THE MONEY AND THE TOURISTS KEEP IT AFLOAT BUT THE MAIN street is where the locals frequent and we found it & were thrilled with the organic booths, pottery places, real herb places, please tell those to not go to Tulip festival unless you go at the crack of dawn on a weekday and get there at 7 or 8 am before hoards of people...believe me that was ridiculous for tulips and daffys no less..ciao!
